If you had no idea that Sri Lanka has a vehicle manufacturer, don’t worry, you are not the only one. In fact there are two: one called Micro Cars which of course it is just a local maker, and a second one called Vega Innovations that has all the intention of becoming an international star.
Back in 2015, the company started to work on its first supercar. It was called “Vega” and was supposed to be an electric supercar with an output of about 900 horsepower. Now, it looks like the car is closer to production and we are going to have a first look at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show.
However, there is a problem. The production version, called “Vega EVX” won’t deliver anything close to the target. In fact, it will be powered by a pair of 150-kW electric motors with a total output of 400 horsepower. Even so, the Vega EVX will go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds – just 0.5 seconds down from the promised 3.5 seconds. Of course, if you think about it this is very far from Tesla Roadster’s sprint time of just 1.9 seconds.
The future Vega EVX will be powered by a T-shaped battery pack that will ensure a range of 150 miles.
Full details on Vega EVX will be revealed in March.
