Every time we say Nio we think about the EP9 – you know, the electric supercar that broke Nurburgring’s record for electric cars. At the beginning of 2018 the EP9 lapped the ring with a time of 6:45.90. Of course, early in 2019 Volkswagen ID.R broke that record with a time of 6:05.336, but for a while the EP9 was the fastest electric car at Nurburgring.
Now, the Chinese company came with another cool car. Is called the EC6, has been described as “young, dynamic and progressive” and aims at cars like BMW X4. Nio said that full details on the EC6 will be revealed in July 2020, but it did announced that thanks to its coupe body design the vehicle’s drag coefficient was lowered to 0.27Cd. Also, the EC6 features a 2.1m2 all-glass roof.
Few details have been revealed about the specification figures, but we do know Nio will offer a EC6 Performance Version equipped with a 160kW PM motor and a 240kW induction motor. With a total output of 536 horsepower this version should sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds. With the 100kWh liquid-cooled thermostatic battery pack, the EC6 Performance Version boasts an NEDC range of up to 615 km (382 miles).
Nio will begin delivery of the EC6 in September 2020.
