In the same time with the new generation GLA, Mercedes also announced the new GLA 35 AMG – a model that combines “high-style and high- performance in a sporty crossover.”
The GLA 35 will be distinguished from the rest of the lineup thanks to an AMG-specific radiator grille, unique silver chrome trim elements in the outer air inlets and the front splitter, as well as the door panel inserts in silver chrome or high-gloss black. At the rear it gets a new rear bumper with a new diffuser insert, AMG spoiler lip on the roof spoiler and two round tailpipe trims. The car rides on 19-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in grey with a high-sheen finish.
The new GLA 35 AMG is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that delivers a total of 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G dual-clutch transmission and sends its power to all four wheels via an AMG Performance 4MATIC variable all-wheel drive. The new GLA 35 AMG sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds and goes up to a top speed of 155 mph.
The car is also offered with an AMG DYNAMIC SELECT system with five driving programs “Slippery”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual”. Also, a new feature of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT is the AMG DYNAMICS that helps improving agility and stability. This system offers two different manifestations: Basic and Advanced. “Basic” is assigned to the “Slippery” and “Comfort” drive modes, while “Advanced” is activated in the programs “Sport” and “Sport+”.
