In the same time with the launch of the new generation GLE Coupe, Mercedes also announced the launch of the new GLE 53 AMG. The AMG version will be displayed next to the standard version at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and will be put on sale in the spring of 2020.

Like many of the AMG cars launched lately, the GLE 53 AMG combines a turbocharged 3.0-liter engine with an electric auxiliary compressor. The engine delivers a total of 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, while the EQ Boost adds 21 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque for short periods. As a result the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is done in 5.2 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph. The engine is mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed automatic transmission and sends its power to all four wheels via an AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.

When put next to the standard GLE, the new GLE 53 AMG will be distinguished thanks to its AMG-specific radiator grille, an AMG-specific front bumper with sporty outer air inlets, AMG side skirts and trunk lid spoiler painted in the vehicle’s body color. The car rides on 21-inch wheels with AMG lettering.

For the interior customers will get AMG seats in black MB-Tex / DINAMICA microfiber, a three-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel, plus unique colors with red contrast stitching and red seat belts.
