It hasn’t been a year since Ford introduced the new Shelby GT500, and in its base form, it’s quite the beast. The 5.2-liter under the hood delivers a cool 700 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. But, that isn’t enough, now is it? You bet it’s not. That’s why Hennessey performance now offers three different kits for the new GT500 that can push it up to 850 horsepower, 1,000 horsepower, or a mind-numbing 1,200 horsepower. As you might have guessed, Hennessey offers three different packages:
Hennessey GT500 Venom 850 Upgrade
For this upgrade, Hennessey does more bolt-on work than anything. This package includes a new set of stainless-steel headers that are paired with a set of high-flow catalytic converters. This adds a little bit of extra grunt to the GT500’s V-8, but to push things to the next level, Hennessey rips off that factory supercharged and ports it with a high-precision CNC machine to increase its capacity. This is paired with a high-flow air induction system. The result is 850 horsepower @ 7,000 rpm and 725 pound-feet of torque – an improvement of 150 horsepower and 100 pound-feet. This package also includes a set of Hennessey and Venom 850 exterior badges and a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty.
Hennessey GT500 Venom 1,000 Upgrade
Hennessey worked some magic with the GT500’s stock supercharger, but if you want to go beyond the 850-horsepower mark, you’ll need to get something a little bigger. That’s why this upgrade package includes a 3.0-liter Supercharger upgrade and an upgraded, high-flow fuel system in addition to the upgrades included with the Venom 850 upgrade. A transmission upgrade is also needed, and this kit comes with new exterior badges as well. Unfortunately, due to the depth of modification here, Hennessey can only offer a 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty. This setup will net you 1,000 horsepower @ 7,000 RPM and 825 pound-feet of torque.
Hennessey GT500 Venom 1,200 Upgrade
They may say that there’s no replacement for displacement, but Hennessey proves that wrong every day. Such is the case with the Venom 1200 upgrade for the new Shelby GT500. To put it simply, that 3.0-liter supercharger just isn’t enough, so Hennessey ditches the supercharger altogether and tosses in a twin-turbo setup with an upgraded intercooler system, revised exhaust, upgraded pistons and rods, and the usual fuel system and transmission upgrades. You’ll get the Hennessey and Venom 1200 exterior badges and you’re still stuck with the 1 year, 12,000 mile limited warranty.
