Audi came at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show with the perfect concept car for those interested in exploring the nature. It is called Audi AI:TRAIL quattro and “combines the capacity for automated driving with superb off-road capabilities.”
The Audi AI:Trail quattro measures 4.15 meters (13.5 ft) in length, 2.15 meters (7.05 ft) in width and 1.67 meters (5.5 ft) in height and rides on enormous 22-inch wheels with 850 mm (33.5 in) tires – which makes it the perfect vehicle for any type of terrain.
The concept is made out of a mixture of high-tech steel, aluminum and carbon fiber and it weight just 1,750 kilograms (3,858.09 lbs).
Audi AI:TRAIL quattro’s powertrain is made out of four electric motors and a quattro drive – a system that delivers a total of 430 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. The four motors take their power from a lithium-ion battery pack that ensures a range of 400 to 500 kilometers (248.5 to 310.7 mi) on roads or easy off-road terrain. Of course, we are looking at an off-road vehicle so performance is not one of its main feature: the top speed is only 130 km/h (80 mph), but who needs speed when you can have fun.
“With the AI:TRAIL, we are showing an off-road concept with an emissions-free electric drive for an innovative driving experience away from paved roads. Consistent with this, we designed a monolithic basic vehicle body with maximum glazing to create an intense connection to the surroundings. A concept for sustainable mobility on demand.”
